Oral Health Policy Profile

The Oral Health Policy Profile, available for download above, is a template to assist state oral health programs in monitoring and tracking state oral health policies in three areas:

  • Professional policies – (e.g., 8-Week Mini-Pediatric Dentistry course for GP DDS)
  • Public policies in laws, regulations, other (e.g., statewide fluoridation mandate)
  • Programmatic policies (e.g., MOU with your Department of Environment)

Creating and maintaining an Oral Health Policy Profile is useful for:

  • New stakeholders  who are unaware of existing policies
  • Long-standing partners who may not be clear on nature and extent of state policies
  • Planning/education/outreach/proposal development/evaluation activities that require up-to-date information

For a completed example, see the profile by Maryland’s State Oral Health Program.
