While millions of children in the United States benefit from routine preventive dental care, millions of other kids suffer needlessly from avoidable dental disease. As a result, tooth decay continues to remain the single most common chronic disease of childhood, frequently causing pain and disrupting the lives of many children. This Policy Brief discusses the long-term cost savings that can be achieved through preventive dental care.
